Our practice has been a presence in Lancaster County dentistry for over 70 years. Dr. John F. Schreder attended St. Francis College in Loretto, Pennsylvania and graduated from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1952. Upon graduation, Dr. John returned to Lancaster and founded the practice at 320 West King Street. Located just three blocks from Penn’s Square and a stone’s throw from the Cabbage Hill section of Lancaster where he was born and raised, the practice became an important part of dentistry in town.

In 1954, Dr. Albert J. Schreder, a 1949 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a 1953 graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry, joined his brother in the practice on King Street. Their warm and friendly approach to patient interaction quickly ingratiated them to their patients as they were fondly referred to as “Dr. John” and “Dr. Al.”

As the practice grew, it became evident that expansion was necessary. In 1965 Dr. John and Dr. Al doubled the size of their office space at the King Street location to accommodate the increased demand.

In 1991, Dr. Michael J. Schreder joined his father, Dr. John, and uncle, Dr. Al, at the King Street office. The practice experienced continued growth and was relocated to its present location at 151 Good Drive in January 1994. This move more than doubled the office space of the King Street location. With the opening of the new office, Dr. Jane Aldrich Schreder joined her husband, Dr. Mike, and father-in-law, Dr. John, in the practice.

Dr. Al retired with the closing of the King Street office on December 23, 1993. Dr. John continued to practice at the new office until his retirement in May 1997.

Drs. Jane and Mike welcomed their son, Dr. Christopher J. Schreder to the practice in July, 2023. With the addition of Dr. Chris, the practice will continue to provide dental care to Lancaster for another generation.

Drs. Jane, Mike and Chris have continued the same patient-centered approach to dentistry that was such a large part of the way Dr. John and Dr. Al practiced. They take pride in the fact that many families have continued to call Schreder Dental their home for dental care.
